Integrity

Ps 25:20  O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

Prov 20:7  The just man walketh in his integrity...

Integrity:  adherence to moral and ethical principles, soundness of moral character

*A person with integrity lives an honest life before God & man. When we are not honest & upright, we bring shame upon ourselves & our claim that the Word of God is truth.

In my lifetime, I have encountered several people that claim Christianity but say things they don’t really mean. They might mean what they say at the time or they might be trying to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, but I for one prefer you “say what you mean and mean what you say.” I am less likely to be offended if you are truthful with me. Making excuses & beating around the bush is too much like deception. If you continually say things that aren’t real, or make statements that don’t happen, people will lose respect for you & will not believe you when you speak the truth.

There’s a fine line between complimenting someone & outright lying, such as telling someone they look nice. There’s no harm in a statement like that unless of course they’re covered in mud! The point I’m trying to make is this; people can tell when you are sincere & when you are just saying what you think they want to hear.

Here's an example: How would you feel if someone you trusted told you there was no room for you in their book club but then you find out two other people joined the club right after that? You would feel hurt & disappointed in that person & it would make you wonder how many other times were they not truthful.

What if God treated us this way? He CANNOT! He does not, cannot lie because He is Truth! We can rely on His Word to be faithful & true. If we need to improve in areas of our life, He will show us where we fail & how to overcome those failings. Yes, He gives us grace, but He will also chastise when necessary for our benefit. He does not overlook deceit in any form!

It’s good to know we have a faithful father that will lead & guide us & teach us all things concerning His will.

We have Christ as our example in showing love & forgiveness...we have His word to teach us holiness. It's important how others see us as we are supposed to shine forth the Light that He has placed in us.

Another example:  What kind of light am I if in one breath I am praising God , but then you see or hear me speaking or acting unrighteously?

Ps 7:8...judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

Ps 26:1...I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.
