Rejection

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

Reject = to refuse to accept, agree to, believe in, or make use of something

John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Is. 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men...

Mark 6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

*Jesus felt great rejection by those that He came to save! He came to earth to sacrifice Himself on the cross for the atonement of our sins. He never exalted Himself >

Phil 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

*Feeling rejected can be so hard, and make you feel alone in this world. I am sure more often than not we can admit that we have felt rejected at some point in our lives. Rejection occurs when a person or a group of people excludes an individual and refuses to acknowledge or accept them.

Pray for those that reject you, assess their motives, and ask for God’s guidance. Remember, human rejection might just be God’s divine intervention. You may be spending time with people that are not good for you. It’s okay to walk away from people that make you feel ‘less.’ If you are surrounded by people like that in your workplace, & you don’t have a better job opportunity, you might have to avoid them when possible. When you can’t avoid them, put on a smile & have a pleasant attitude, taking comfort that God knows your effort. In your church, you might not be in the place you need to be...God may have an open door waiting for you somewhere else.

When we have gifts & callings, we feel slighted when we are not given the opportunity to use them. We also tend to feel guilty, knowing God has gifted us & called us into His service & that makes us think that we are not pleasing God! However, we can take comfort knowing that if we are willing & obedient, that’s all that’s required of us.

We can endure rejection from others, knowing that Jesus suffered great rejection for us, & if we love Him, He will never reject us!
