His Name

*Name = the sacred designation of a deity

(Webster's)

*The Identification of Jesus:

Is. 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

*Son = offspring = issue = outflow, outgoing

Government = rule, authority

Wonderful = incredible = amazing beyond belief

Counseller = lawyer (our defender) ...teacher

God = supernatural deity = omnipotent = all powerful

Father = supreme creator

Prince of Peace = power of mediation for us

(Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.)

Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Is.7:14)

Is. 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

Is. 45:12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; (the Word) and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

(Jn. 11:25 I am the resurrection, and the life ...

Jn. 14:6-7 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. )

*Some are baptized in the name of Jesus simply because it is commanded, but there is a reason God commanded that we must be baptized in his name other than just obedience. The name is significant in itself in that it identifies all that God is, and after all, it is by the power of God that we are saved. He alone is our creator and Savior as he has stated from the beginning. He is the only saving, healing power; the only worthy sinless sacrifice. > (Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:) (Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.)

*It is only by his name that miracles & healings occur. (Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

[Mk. 16:17 In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;]

Jn. 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

*God is characterized by his name. His name tells who he is...

Mt. 6:9 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Hallowed = Holy, supernal, all powerful)
