It Is Written

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Matt 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

*devil is the prince of this world - Jn. 12:32

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

*Satan knows the Word & he will speak it, changing it just enough to deceive us if we don't know the scriptures. The Word is our weapon against the enemy; it is also promises unto us. The Word is what leads & guides us, comforts us & teaches us how to live a victorious life in Christ. >

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (anxious, worried...a troubled or burdened state of mind - is not faith

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

*It is written...

Matt 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Jn 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

1 Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Phil. 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

*All these promises are written for us...we need only believe.

*Doubtful even when Jesus is near...

Mt. 8:23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

*Even tho he was in the ship with them & he had said, "Let us pass over unto the other side." (Mark 4:35)

*They forgot that his word was always carried through! They were with the healer, the provider, the one that turned water to wine & raised the dead. How soon they forgot what his word would do - he speaks & his words accomplish what he wills.

*Afraid right in the middle of deliverance...

Matt 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

*Jesus spoke the word, "come," & Peter stepped out on his word. We must believe his word & trust that it will render results.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
