Let the Spirit of the Lord Be Manifest

1 Cor. 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

*manifest – evident to the senses, to the sight, to make appear distinctly, obvious

*profit – to derive benefit, gain, advantage, to be of use

*withal – by means of, on account of

*The Spirit shows forth the glory of God; On the day of Pentecost there was a great manifestation of His spirit. There was a sound, there was an appearance of cloven tongues like fire, & an utterance. (Acts 2:2-4)

We may not hear the sound like wind or see the cloven tongues, but it still comes in like wind & we feel it like fire. The Spirit itself can’t be seen unless it’s manifested IN some way like …the burning bush that Moses saw, the dove that descended upon Jesus, or the cloven tongues on the day of Pentecost.

Mainly, the manifestation is a ‘feeling’….(the first time a mother holds her newborn baby in her arms, she has an overwhelming ‘feeling’ of love) The Spirit is a feeling of overwhelming love, plus – trembling, stammering lips & when you begin to praise & worship – it brings a heavenly language (tongues) between you & God I Pet. 1:8 says it’s “joy unspeakable & full of glory.”

I can tell you I have the spirit, but without the evidence (manifestation) you just have to take my word for it.

Here are some instances of the powerful manifestation of the spirit:

At the wedding when they ran out of wine…

John 2:1-10

1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. *It was not time for Him to be manifested as the son of God / glorified.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

*Every time Jesus performed a miracle...whether it be healing a blind man, raising the dead, feeding a crowd, walking on water or calming a storm, the spirit was manifested.

Signs of the compassionate manifestation of the Spirit:

(This is the manifestation that people are looking for today)

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is

merciful.

37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

*This takes compassion – the spirit working in us. When people are mean, we don't want to be kind, we want to hate, but the spirit in us urges us to show love.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance:

*fruit = the thing produced / the manifestation of the Spirit

*It’s so important for the spirit to be manifested when we gather together to worship. Without the manifestation of the Spirit in our lives, we become numb to the things of the world. If we’re not careful, we will get used to ‘not feeling’

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, (unfeeling) and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
