Power To Be Free

Free = not held back, restrained or hindered, not under another’s control

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (the truth is God’s word)

33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (truly)

*When we are born again, we receive the spirit of truth, which is the Holy Ghost, and we no longer serve or obey sin, because we are led by this spirit of truth. Sin can no longer rule us and cause us to do things that we know is not right, because we have power to overcome the enemy that tempts us to sin. All Satan can do, is tempt; he cannot force us to sin.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. *The rule or power of the Spirit has freed me from the rule / power of sin = sin has no more dominion over me.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace (God’s favor)

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (power = might, authority, great ability to be witnesses = testimonies, evidence unto = to, for me)

2 Cor 3... where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. *The Spirit is in you.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast (firmly fixed, not moveable) therefore in the liberty (freedom) wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled (involved) again with the yoke of bondage. (bound to serving Satan)

Prov 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

*If you can't control your own spirit, you are like a city with no protection against the enemy.

*We Have Control Of Our Life:

We must use self- control in our daily walk with Christ, and we have no excuse for living a sinful life. If we are filled with the Holy Ghost, and we continue in prayer and study of his word, we can live right. The Holy Ghost will check us if we allow him to, but he will not force us to live holy, although he will chasten us and will draw us to him. Still, it is up to us to heed and be a doer of the word as in the following scriptures:

2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Col. 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

(mortify = discipline, control)

*It is up to us to put away sin, and to stop doing anything that is not pleasing to God > unrighteousness is not a spirit to be cast out. > if you have a temper, control it, if you have a bad habit, stop it, if you have an addiction, put it away, and God will give you strength to withstand the craving.

You cannot just pray for a sinful life to change, or for temptations to cease. God does not tempt us, but Satan tempts us, and accuses us, and does everything he can to deceive and discourage us, but we have power to resist him. > James 4:7 ......Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.)

*We are not under bondage to him, and we are not under bondage to any man.

Eph. 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles (trickery, deceit) of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

*The armour >

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, (the word) and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel (doctrine of Christ) of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, (trust in God) wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: > 1 Thess 5:8 …and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Gal. 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance... *If we have the spirit of God dwelling in us (according to Acts 2:4, 2::38) then we have power to control how we react. Some might say, "I can’t control my temper;" and we may not be able to control how we feel, but we can control how we deal with those feelings.

Gal. 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

1 Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Cor. 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple (dwelling place) of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

17 If any man defile (make unclean) the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

II Thess. 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

*Your charity, patience, and faith, is an evident sign that you are worthy of the kingdom.

Phil. 1:6 Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform (complete) it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Eph. 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord...

*We have the power to be free in Christ if we keep the word of God stirred in our hearts, seeking and worshiping him in the spirit. Using the armor of God, we have the power to resist the wiles of the devil, and he cannot bind or hinder us!
