Stand In Your Place

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Ps 24:3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? (Ps. 15)

(stand = to take or remain in a specified position, remain unchanged )

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

(something that is clean & pure is not mixed with anything, but is free from anything that would impair, or defile / sinless, morally pure)

5 He shall receive ^the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

^[Ga. 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Ro. 15:29 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.]

Ps 135:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.

2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, (you that are called to be saints - when you come into the presence of the Lord, he expects to be praised and worshipped)

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (thru Jesus, we have the right to enter into the mercy, or ‘favor’ of God, & we stand by the power of this grace (mercy, favor)

1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. (stand firm, unmovable/conduct yourselves like men, not helpless like children)

Ga. 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (freedom from sin, or anything that would bind us , any hold that satan would try to have on us)

*The Spirit produces: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, temperance (Gal. 5:22)

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, (demonic spirits) against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (withstand = remain uninjured, or unaffected by )

*HOW TO STAND:

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

*Customary dress was long, flowing robes that would naturally be in the way in combat, so men would gird up their clothes close to them, so they wouldn’t get in the way, hence they were prepared for battle. Paul is saying here, not to lose faith, but be prepared for spiritual warfare by keeping the word very close to you and protecting your heart by living righteously

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

*Your feet are kept from falling, or straying by the ‘preparation’ (or foundation, establishment) of the gospel > if you protect your “walk’ with Christ by living according to what is taught in the word - you will have peace, not spiritual warfare .

16 Above all, taking the ^shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. >

^Jude 20 - Building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost ) *Our faith is our victory, it is our testimony; it protects us from the harmful devices of satan (I Pet. 1: 5 Who are kept by the power of god through faith unto salvation ...)

17 And take the ^helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

^1 Thess 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and ^for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

* If we lose hope, our mind is open to all sorts of lies from Satan / We use the sword to defeat satan when we use the word of God.

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance (determination) and supplication for all saints;

Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God (complete, having all the necessary qualities)

2 Chron. 20: 2 - 25 ---they sought the Lord & stood in their place >

3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

9 If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

*The Lord set an ambush against their enemies & when the singers began to praise God, their enemies were defeated.

*Gideon defeats the Midianites >

Judges 7: 1 - 21 - every man had a ‘trumpet’ & a pitcher with a ‘lamp’ >

16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

*Pharaoh & the Egyptians are pursuing the Israelites >

Ex 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

*When we're afraid, we must be still (unwavering) in our trust in God. When we stand on His word, instead of looking at the circumstances, He will fight on our behalf & lead us to victory.
