The Savior

Picture This...

A father and his only son are standing outside a burning building filled with people.

The only way those people can be saved is for either the father or the son to risk his own life by entering the burning building and opening the door that will lead them to salvation.

The father turns to his son and says, "You go."

Does that sound like a father who loves his son?

I ask the fathers reading this: Is that what you would do?

Now consider what the Scriptures actually say about our Savior...

Some theologians would have us believe that God sacrificed His Son instead of sacrificing Himself. Yet Scripture declares that God alone is our Savior (Isa. 43:10–11). He prepared Himself a body of flesh to become the sacrifice for our sins (Isa. 9:6). Because "without shedding of blood is no remission" (Heb. 9:22), there had to be a blood sacrifice for the sins of the world.

► 2 Corinthians 5:21 – "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 

John 3:16–17

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

The power of God overshadowed Mary, placing within her a "holy thing" that would be called "the Son of God."

It is important to understand that the word-begotten means “made to be” or "brought into being."  

 God prepared for Himself a body of flesh that could experience our infirmities, reveal the doctrine of salvation, and become the perfect sacrifice for a lost and dying world. God, who is Spirit, could not shed His Spirit's blood upon the cross. Therefore, He provided Himself a holy flesh-and-blood sacrifice so that, through Him, (Christ) our sins could be remitted by the application of His holy blood to our lives.

► Ephesians 1:7 – "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins..."

► Acts 2:38 – "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Who died on the cross for our sins?

The Father - our God and Savior.

His name is Jesus.
