The Spirit and the Bride Say, "Come."

Updated: May 22

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.

And let him that heareth say, Come.

And let him that is athirst come.

And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev 22:17

*Before Jesus was received up into heaven, He promised the

disciples a portion of His spirit that would give them power to be His witnesses in all the world (Acts 1:8). He instructed them to carry on His doctrine, saying, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Mt. 28:19,20)

*The church, today, has that same great commission.

When the apostles were put in prison for using the power of God, an angel freed them and said unto them, “Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” (eternal life) *When officers found them, they brought them before the council, and the high priest said unto them, “Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine…”

*The apostles were not hesitant to answer, saying, “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

We should have this same attitude, this same determination; that we are required to spread the doctrine of Christ, whether it is popular or not! Peter then proceeded to preach Jesus unto them, saying, “We are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” (Acts 5:18-29)

*If we have been born again (Acts 2:38), the Holy Ghost witnesses to us, the saving power of God and guides us into all truth. Therefore, we need to tell others about ‘this life,’ and how they can experience this great salvation if they will come to Christ.

The disciples remained faithful ministers though they suffered much adversity. (II Cor. 6:4-10)

Our obstacles, however, are indifference and deception. If asked, most people believe they are saved! It’s hard to proclaim the truth to a people that have been convinced that all they have to do in order to be saved is believe that Jesus died for their sins, regardless of how they live. Still, we must not give up but continue to, “Go into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in…” (Luke 14:23)

*The gospel message is the same, and all that will hear the message will gladly obey it. "…as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (Jn. 1:12)

Jesus said...

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

(Mt. 11:28-29)

“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” (Jn. 10:9)

“…Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mt. 4:19)

“...If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” (Jn .7:37)

*We must continue to proclaim the name of Jesus, urging people to receive Him fully. Who knows how many souls might be pulled out of the fire (Jude 23) by our persistence? We don’t often have the opportunity to witness on the streets, so let’s get them to the church. How? By welcoming them, showing kindness and genuine concern, giving them hope, revealing Jesus unto them, not by the letter, but by the powerful love of God! “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Ro. 10:15)
